I Get You Tube
So, I've been hearing YouTube this, and YouTube that, and how YouTube is revolutionizing video on the web, and all I can think of is the crazy movie about a rubber chicken that a co-worker of mine made and put up on the Xoom.com MediaSharehouse back in 1999. It was quickly voted to number 1. And frankly, it just wasn't that good. I figured YouTube was just a bunch of very lousy short homemade videos, and I don't have time to sift through that detritus.
But then I heard about how there were 4 million daily downloads of the SNL "Lazy Sunday" video. Ah ha! it's like Napster was in early days: a free way to get copyrighted content.
And you know what, I think that's exactly what it is: but wow do they have a great selection of copyrighted content! This afternoon I watched about a dozen Sesame Street video clips with my daughter from back when I was a kid. Including the classic "Pinball Counting" clip (you'll recognize it as soon as you hear it).
