I Get You Tube

So, I've been hearing YouTube this, and YouTube that, and how YouTube is revolutionizing video on the web, and all I can think of is the crazy movie about a rubber chicken that a co-worker of mine made and put up on the Xoom.com MediaSharehouse back in 1999. It was quickly voted to number 1. And frankly, it just wasn't that good. I figured YouTube was just a bunch of very lousy short homemade videos, and I don't have time to sift through that detritus.

But then I heard about how there were 4 million daily downloads of the SNL "Lazy Sunday" video. Ah ha! it's like Napster was in early days: a free way to get copyrighted content.

And you know what, I think that's exactly what it is: but wow do they have a great selection of copyrighted content! This afternoon I watched about a dozen Sesame Street video clips with my daughter from back when I was a kid. Including the classic "Pinball Counting" clip (you'll recognize it as soon as you hear it).

A good repository of Sesame Street YouTube links can be found here:

Enjoy!

YACA (Yet Another Cool Acquisition)

We have two big launches coming up this week; one of them is a really awesome behind-the-scenes refactor of some of our core "Cars" code that should add major $$ to the bottom line, be way more maintainable and also pave the way for many future enhancements.

The second is the cutover to our servers on "Yet Another Cool Acquisition." I have reason to believe that it might get mentioned by a major news outlet on Wednesday or Thursday, so keep your eyes on the business section. Wait, I mean two cool acquisitions. It's just that we won't be cutting over the 2nd one to our data center just yet, so it doesn't feel quite like we own it :)

Good times!
